These terms govern your use of OutGuide. By using the site, you agree to them.
1. Service overview
OutGuide is a multilingual portal for LGBTQ+-friendly nightlife venues in Japan (bars, lounges, clubs, etc.). We curate information from venue owners, our editors, community submissions, and public sources.
2. Eligibility
Because of the nightlife subject matter, the service is intended for users 18 and over. Use by anyone under 18 is not permitted.
3. Accounts
Some features (bookmarks, reviews, owner claims) require an account. Keep your details accurate and notify us right away if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Owner verification and edit rights
Venue owners may verify ownership via Instagram, X, or email and then edit their listing. Edits must be truthful. Some fields (slug, area slug, editor pick rank, internal notes) remain admin-only.
5. User-generated content
• Reviews, photos, and venue submissions must be factual, based on your own experience, and respect others' rights. • Discriminatory, hateful, sexually-explicit, violent, promotional, or spam content will be removed. • By submitting, you grant OutGuide a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, translate, and edit the content. You warrant that you hold the rights to grant this.
6. Prohibited use
• Illegal, false, defamatory, or hateful posts • Scraping, automated access, API abuse, or anything that puts unreasonable load on the service • Impersonation, forged verification • Interfering with the service or attempting to reverse-engineer it
7. Intellectual property
OutGuide's design, code, curated information, translations, and aggregated datasets belong to OutGuide. Owners retain rights to the text and photos they submit and grant OutGuide a licence to display them.
8. External links
Links to venue websites, social profiles, Google Maps, etc. are provided for convenience. OutGuide is not responsible for the content of linked sites.
9. Disclaimer
OutGuide makes no warranty as to accuracy, freshness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Hours, charges, and entry policies can change without notice — verify directly with the venue before visiting. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from your use of the service.
10. Changes to the service
We may change, add to, or discontinue the service at any time. Material changes will be announced on the site or via your registered email.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law / jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Japanese law. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any disputes.
